Introduction to latexSafe™ Certification |
The Toy Man® latexSafe™ Certification was first introduced by The Toy Man® Product Guide back in the late 2008. It is not like "LatexFree" that you will see quite often. It was part of our product evaluation which included validating lab testing reports on products submitted for review. Some people are allergic to latex, which is a reaction to proteins in natural rubber latex. Symptoms can range from mild skin irritation to severe anaphylaxis. |

A Greater Understanding |
The Toy Man® latexSafe™ Certification is in no manner inflecting the idea of a product being "Latex Free". The Toy Man® latexSafe™ Certification is a validation that the product has been lab-tested, and the lab report verifies it meets Federal safety guidelines.
- Natural Latex is generally considered safe: Particularly when it comes to mattresses and bedding, according to Sleeping Organic.
- Latex Allergies: Some people are allergic to latex, which is a reaction to proteins in natural rubber latex. Symptoms can range from mild skin irritation to severe anaphylaxis.
- Washing Process: Many high-quality latex products undergo a washing process that removes many of the proteins that cause allergic reactions.
- Synthetic Latex: For those with known latex allergies, synthetic latex or latex-free options are recommended.
- Off-gassing: Natural latex mattresses generally have low off-gassing, especially when compared to memory foam or synthetic foam mattresses.
- Certifications: Look for certifications such as eco-INSTITUTE or Oeko-Tex Standard 100 to ensure low VOC emissions.
- If you have a latex allergy, you can request a sample of 100% natural latex to test for a reaction before purchasing.

"A family can have multiple products that have been approved for safe levels of lead. The larger the number of products that have lead in them, the higher the risk of lead poisoning from cumulative exposure." |

Importance of Realizing Value |
The Toy Man® leadSafe™ Certification for all inducted products, adds greater value to the product in the retail market. Buyers have a higher probability of buying a product with this certification than a product that does not. |
